Our 6 principles:
Support the healing power of the body by recognizing and removing obstacles to the body's inherent self-healing process. Your body knows how to heal. We help you get out of your own way.
Do no harm. By using methods and medicines that minimize the risk of harmful side effects, naturopathic doctors use the least invasive means necessary. We will reach for an apple before we reach for a knife.
Treat the cause of disease. By identifying and removing the underlying cause(s) of illness, rather than suppressing symptoms. Your symptoms are messages of imbalance in the body. We teach you how to interpret these messages instead of ignore them.
Teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine by sharing knowledge with you and encouraging individual responsibility for health. We want you to be empowered with health knowledge!
Treat the whole person through individualized treatment. We work to understand the unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors that contribute to illness, and customize treatment protocols for you. There is only one you.
Emphasize prevention, by partnering with you to assess risk factors and recommend appropriate naturopathic interventions to maintain health and prevent illness. We help you attain health while at the same time avoiding disease in the future. We do not wait for disease to appear in order to treat, we treat NOW to avoid disease progression.
Naturopathic physicians attend a four-year naturopathic medical school and are educated in the same basic sciences as an MD, but they also study holistic therapies with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimal wellness. In addition to a standard medical curriculum including biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, pathology, microbiology and pharmacology, naturopathic physicians uniquely study in depth clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, and psychology. A naturopathic physician takes rigorous professional board exams so that he or she may be licensed by the state in which they practice medicine.
