Rosemary
Rosemary has many medicinal values, including hair growth.
It seems to be especially effective for those with androgenetic alopecia, which is a common form of hair loss due to testosterone and its metabolites such as DHT.
A 2015 study found that rosemary oil was similar to the effectiveness of minoxidil, also known as Rogaine, for regrowing hair in men with androgenetic alopecia. The scalp was also less itchy after three to six months of use.
Though this study was only done on men, I’ve seen clinical success for women as well.
The herb might also protect hair from the sun, pollution, and other environmental elements.
There is also evidence that it can help with dandruff and premature greying.
Here are ways you can utilize rosemary for hair health:
Massage rosemary oil onto the scalp 2-3 times each week, let it soak overnight and then wash out the next day. *only a few drops are needed.
Create an essential oil spray. Personally, I spray rosemary, peppermint and lavender diluted with water onto the scalp after hair washing. I feels amazing and stimulates the scalp.
Don’t forget to use rosemary in your meals as well - both internal and topical application can provide a synergetic effect.
Other ways rosemary supports health:
Supports circulation, improves blood flow/blood vessel health
Improves memory
Improves vision
Decreases capillary fragility
Reduces inflammation
Improves digestion, reduces gas
Is thought to be both stimulating and relaxing on the nervous system
Rosemary for Remembrance
Remember that nature never rushes, so plan on up to six months for meaningful improvement.
