Hot Flash Tea
You know from my past articles that many botanicals can improve hot flashes and night sweats.
But did you realize that you can get these botanicals via tea, not just via supplements?
This is a botanical tea formula to cool hot flashes, which I learned about in med school from Dr. Jillian Stansbury:
2 parts Licorice Root
2 parts Crushed Fennel Seeds
2 parts Dried Peppermint Leaf
2 parts Citrus Peel
1 part Burdock Root
1 part Dried Hops Flowers
1 part Dried Sage Leaf
1/2 part Dried Rosemary
Decoct (bring to a boil) the first three ingredients for 10 mins, then add the remaining herbs to infuse (pour hot water over the herbs). Add fresh lemon juice or honey as desired.
Drink 3 or more cups per day. Increase during times of stress.
How to Resource:
Want to make this at home on your own? A local herb or health food store will likely carry these ingredients or you can head to Mountain Rose Herbs - a source of high quality bulk herbs.
If you'd rather avoid the DIY part, there are many amazing Herbal Pharmacies out there - check to see if there is one in your area. You may be able to ask them to make the above formula for you or they can make a similar formula.
If you live in Portland, OR check out Briar Patch Herbs.
*As always, be sure to speak with a qualified health care practitioner before beginning any botanical supplementation or tea.
